I am very excited to have a bit of decent first draft in my first run at writing a screenplay based on the scenes that I improvised to create The Blue Lady storyboard. I will share first drafts of a few scenes as I progress. This is, of course, not final formatting. THE BLUE LADY, Act 1, Scene 5. [5] Indoor shot. Closeup on back of ELIZABETHs head/Longshot over her shoulder (either looking up the stairs or down a shadowy hallway lit by a solitary lantern). ELIZABETH takes a beat and then sighs. She walks slowly and resignedly (up the stairs/down the hallway) and picks up the lantern. [Indoor shot continuing] Closeup on ELIZABETH standing at the door of MASSAs sickroom. ELIZABETH Lord, it is Elizabeth here, speaking to you once again. It is true that I do not believe that you do in fact exist there in the firmament. Regardless, I do not know all that there is to know in this world and I recognize that there is a possibility that you are you. Considering that possibility, Lord, as I beg you every morning before I go into Master Henrys room and see that moldering all over his body - and he not yet dead but the very skin already rotting off his body - before I go into that death chamber to wash him to try to take away some of the pain and the washing causes more pain, before that, Lord, give me strength. I have no picture in my mind of what evil looks like; but Lord, if you are there, you know the evil that Master Henry has done and perhaps that is the worse and worse horror that I find upon him every morning. So Lord, please, if you are there, give me strength. [Continuing] Midshot on ELIZABETH at the door, knocking. ELIZABETH Massa? [knocking] Massa? Longshot of ELIZABETH at the door, sound of something rolling on the floor. Closeup on a medicine bottle at ELIZABETHs foot. ELIZABETH The Laudanum! Longshot of ELIZABETH picking up the bottle and turning it opening down. ELIZABETH Empty. Empty! Midshot on ELIZABETH examining the bottle and becoming angry. ELIZABETH And this is the last. Who did this? (Whips her head toward the direction of the other end of the hall, yells.) Lali! The Devil take that gal. Three-quarter shot of ELIZABETH walking briskly out of frame. End of scene.
