I am very excited to share the news of my latest blood test - especially for those of you who are skeptical or concerned about increasing your (natural) fat intake. I have been eating a paleo/low carb/high fat/ GAPS style diet for a few months now. I dont strictly follow any one particular diet but listen to my body to find what works for me. I eat no grains or starches, no refined sugar (except in some very dark chocolate), plenty of veggies, some fruit, a decent amount of meat and plenty of healthy fats. I also include bone broth, fermented vegetables, kefir, homemade yoghurt and kombucha in my diet. When I ate the standard, recommended low fat diet (even though I was gluten and dairy free) with lots of carbs and grains and exercised almost daily, my cholesterol was high and my Crohns disease, although managed without medications, was not exactly under control. I was tired a lot, my skin wasnt great and I was a terrible sleeper. Today my cholesterol is normal, my triglycerides are perfect and all of my inflammatory markers are normal. Needless to say, I am ecstatic! I also happen to feel great, sleep well, have plenty of energy, my hormones are stable, moods are stable, my skin is clear and I am the leanest I have ever been with minimal exercise. Now, I am not saying that this way of eating will necessarily work for everyone, but I believe that my results clearly show that eating fat doesnt make you fat, it doesnt raise your cholesterol or triglycerides. I feel better and function better at nearly 40 with 3 kids than I did in my 20s. If you are experiencing problems with your mental or physical health then it is worth looking at your diet and seeing what changes you can make. Listen to your body and find what works for you. If you would like any help making changes then feel free to contact me. #lchf #paleo #GAPS #mentalhealth
