I am watching a really fantastic debate between two facebook friends on checkpoints. It’s been quite interesting but they both have fallen into the trap of arguing about the legality of the subject; quoting the constitution and supreme court decisions. But arguing the law is a fool’s errand. The law is nothing more than an opinion backed up by violence. The discussion people should be having is about the morality of such policies and the morality of enforcing such policies with the threat of force. Try and remove the officer from the situation. Are you willing to take up a weapon and threaten or detain your neighbor with no evidence of wrong doing?
