Todays devotional. NUMBERS 21:4-9 Contributor: Darin Passer While we do not often have physically arduous journeys like those who Moses led through the wilderness, we may have times when it feels like we are alone and not being cared for. But, sometimes the simplest statements by those with innocence can refocus us. My little girl broke her foot early last summer jumping off some monkey bars. A few months later and a few days after a childrens sermon by Pastor Andrea, she told her mother that Jesus was with her when she broke her foot. She remembered hearing words explaining that Jesus is always with those going through difficult situations. As Moses was leading his people, they became discouraged and lamented against him and God about their conditions. When we spout off and complain about a bad situation, we do not have our focus where it should be. Sometimes it takes further insult (hopefully not fiery snakes!) before we realize where the attention should be. Moses was told to create a bronze image of the serpent to heal those bit by one if they were to gaze upon it. What is our individual reminder of where to keep our attention? Family troubles, work concerns, major accidents and minor mishaps - life in all of its experiences - can have difficulties in many different types mixed in with all of the good things. Remembering that we have Jesus with us at all times gives us the opportunity to survive all that is given to us on our own travels. Dear Lord, please help me to remember that no matter what is put in front of me, I am never alone because of your gift of Jesus.
