I appreciate you now focusing on black consumers and being black marketers. That is extremely important. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do anything anymore in economics and politics and try to go into the marketplace or into a political arena in a very broad and ambiguous form; that is suicidal. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER focus on doing business talking about diversity, multicultural, people of color, minorities-- that has no benefit for black folk. You have to understand that. Once you do that youve done several things. First of all youve tied one arm behind your back. You cannot fight in a broad and ambiguous form. NOBODY DOES THAT BUT BLACK FOLK. Anybody who has been in politics long enough and economics understands: You must do business in a very pointed way. Women dont go into to the market place looking for very broad agendas. Women go into the market place fighting for women issues, gays fight for gay issues, Hispanics fight for Hispanic issues, Asians fight for Asian issues. Only black folk have been hung up on this business about going into the market place fighting for diversity, multi-culture, minorities, poor folk, and people of color. It won’t work any longer. I want to set that context for you. Let’s talk about the status: We’ve got to understand also: BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA ARE IN A WORLD OF TROUBLE. Contrary to what anybody tells you (whether its from a black mouth or white mouth), anybody in America that tells you that you are progressing is LYING to you. Black folk in proportional comparative terms are regressing. You have not moved one eye order from where you were in 1860, (on the eve of the civil war). You are still on the bottom of the ladder. You are still outside and underneath the economic structure in this country. Look at all the social discomfort indicators and you’ll find out there is no progress for black folk. I don’t care whether society goes up and has a boom, or goes down and has a depression, Black folk stay constant. You are always outside and underneath the structure. Now with these upcoming problems in society: Ex: When whites catch colds in this country, you are going to catch pneumonia. Terrible hard times are coming and black folk will share is disproportionate burden of difficulties that are coming because we are not prepared to deal with them.
