I apprehend that democracy requires an informed citizenry in order to function properly, and transparency and accountability are essential parts of that. This is the problem with persecuting whistle blowers and limiting free speech. It is impossible to democratically elect the public servants of our Republic while great numbers of the American citizenry remain in ignorance about classified information that is classified for few others reasons than to keep said public servants in office by keeping said citizenry in ignorance.
