I arrived at midnight, Saturday night, driving in a rental car the home of my mother and sister in St Augustine, Florida. They both were at the door to welcome me----my prodigal (excessive) mother, excessive in her love and care, reminiscent of the prodigal Father in the story of the prodigal son. I shared with model Olivia Medina on the plane how God is a prodigal God in his excessive love for us, seeking us daily, racing to us, forsaking all taboos, to embrace us, love us, and celebrate our return to Him. We agreed to skip church in the morning as we are all weary. I leave in the afternoon to register at the DETC Accreditation Conference at Hammock Beach Resort, about 30 miles away. This is the accrediting association for distance learning that engages about 100 undergraduate, graduate and professional colleges, with whom we are seeking accreditation for Union University of California. My role as Vice President of Academic Affairs is critical to this pursuit. Fortunately, I have undergone this same pursuit with City Vision College some five years ago, and so am familiar with some of the leaders, its programming, its intense demands, and its very sophisticated gatherings---a total contrast to the simple life Ive been living in Asia for the past two months. Pray that our mission to get this accreditation will be successful over the next year.
