I arrived at work this morning to find the office empty. I’d forgotten that Michael had the day off and Judi was not due to start work until 10am. I let myself in, checked the phone messages, got the notes out for tomorrow and made any necessary phone calls. It was then that I thought to take advantage of the quiet moment to call my Mum for a chat. My Mum died more than two years ago and this still happens regularly. It will probably continue to happen for the rest of my life. I know this because I often still think “I must tell my brother that” even now, when he died 23 years ago. This is how our loved ones live on. In our memories of them and our continuing love for them. So, instead of making that phone call, I’m writing this post, for my Mum, my Brother, my Uncle Donald and all those who are now lost to me but continue to live on in my heart.
