I attended Gus award ceremony for 4th grade. I love his teacher, Ms. Bouldin and her assistant, Ms. Cook. They are phenomenal women. I was touched at the introduction Ms. Bouldin gave and how tearful she was saying how attached she was to each and every child in her class and how she will continue to follow them and encourage them and love them. It was something I maybe didn’t realize before, having these kids and spending all day with them every day for a whole school year and then not having them anymore has to be tough. I’m grateful that she loves my son and has encouraged him so well. The students stood up to say what they had learned from her and I was so touched because several of the students (including my son) couldn’t get the words out because they were all choked up. I was a crying mess myself. She doesn’t just worry about their academics, she inspires, she fosters empathy and respect and love. Both of these teachers have enriched my little boy’s character and I’m proud and grateful to be able to count them among his list of educators. What a blessing! Gus received a certificate for Honor Roll and also was presented with a canvas, where the class had voted on his top three character traits, they chose Generous, Adventurous and Calm. Since he’s the only UK fan in the classroom his has UK and Go Big Blue on it as well! Proud mom moment. I’m also a proud wife because Joe received an award as well. He came in and spoke with the class and did a presentation on Native American History and he presented the class with a dream catcher and so Ms. Bouldin wanted to make sure and honor him for this.
