I awoke this morning with gratitude for the water and all the life - TopicsExpress

I awoke this morning with gratitude for the water and all the life it brings to all our relations. I made a promise to myself that every time I had a doubt or fear about the California drought, that I would sing a water song. When I sing I imagine the lakes and rivers full and nourished once more. It replaces the images that I see in the news of dry lake beds and the anxiety of scarcity. I was reminded of when I was on the east coast, speaking with Wampanoag women who were saying the the herring and shad fish didnt run in great numbers like they used to. They believed it was because no one sang for the fish anymore. If we sing for the water, perhaps it will be abundant for us once again. Imagine if many of us were singing water songs each day, or at the very least sending our blessings and gratitude out for the water in an intentioned way. Kontiwennenhawi Akwesasne Womens-SingingSociety has shared with us this beautiful Mohawk Water Song that I sing each day. Do you have other water songs that you can share? Blessed is this life and our prayers are so very needed in this time.
