I become outraged at the injustice too often propelled upon us as peoples by virtue of our hue, gender, economic ability, education, etc. and the myriad of systems which do not desire us to survive, enter or thrive. This said, do note that I become profoundly heartbroken at the harm we do to one another. The self-hate expressed in deriding one of the most vulnerable among us, proves once again that the colonized mind is the hardest thing to break. Yes, Miss Jeantel has lot of room to grow but ill-words being hurled her---by us---does not help. As long as we do this—to each other---they don’t have to; in fact they can just turn around and laugh. Carter G. Woodson, in the “Mis-education of the Negro” wrote [noted here w/inclusive language]: “If you make a [person] feel that [they are] inferior, you do not have to compel [them] to accept an inferior status, for [they] will seek it [themselves]. If you make a [person] think that [they are] justly an outcast, you do not have to order [them] to the back door. [They] will go without being told; and if there is no back door, [their] very nature will demand one...[they] will cut one…education [is] necessary.” We gotta do better people. Down with #TeamRachelJeantel because every Black woman deserves respect not derision when testifying in court #Justice4Trayvon
