I been stoked to go to FABTECH 2014 for 3-4 weeks now, and was planning to attend tomorrow. My instructor told us it would be a great opportunity to learn about the welding industry ( my program of study). He found a day we could go without missing days of class. This event only happens every 4 years in a very limited amount of cities it participates in this. If we as students register ourselves early enough we get in FREE, then we only had to pay for was our share in gas for carpooling and our meal. It was an event that would easily spend in the welding area all day to see it all. They have plenty of free stuff to give away, while also having contest who could win things that worth 100s or 1000s of dollars in stuff great for welders. Full of great demonstrations and great networking opportunities were available to experience. Because of my class only looking at their pathetic interest in a little town who does not give 2 cent for welders, nearly all my class is not going, and now I can not go, I even was willing pitch in for gas, or help others in need.I was looking at it as an investment of my future. I was hoping this opportunity would inspire to do better things in my future, but rather it has caused become more severely sicken about our future as a society. I can not afford miss any time from school to perfect my craft because of holidays, mandatory club function time, and mandatory appointments, this day was the only day I could go. So I am very upset with my class, if most ask to borrow something or help with something; I am probably ignore them, we had best opportunity we could ever had as students, but having priorities about the present, we could not enjoy it, in turn ruining mine.
