I believe a mayor is only as good as the city council that works with him/her. I believe we have had a fearless mayor and a very strong city council that has brought about positive movement in Bogalusa. We have seen more progress in the past four years than I have witnessed in the 20+ years of living here. That didnt happen without strong leadership both by a mayor with a vision and a city council that supported that vision. When I moved here the streets were in sad shape and money was always the problem. To make matters worse, we have a collapsing old infrastructure below the surface. Borgne Avenue is a prime example of laying asphalt without fixing below the surface. Hopefully lesson learned. I see revitalization of assets that we have: abandoned downtown, park that was overgrown and filled with broken beer bottles and needles, an area of businesses on LA Ave that needed a little TLC to attract more patrons. All accomplished by current mayor with approval by current council. All should be very proud of these accomplishments as they help bring more money to Bogalusa enabling us to stimulate monies for street improvements. I have seen a brave city council and mayor that pushed for water meter system that is not only good for the environment but also helps lower the cost of the city treating the water as the use of water has dropped from processing 10 million gallons to 2.5. I always wondered why the grass was always so green in Bogalusa. Haha! Not so many sprinklers running these days and a lot of leaky faucets are fixed. Ive never lived in a city that did not have meters till I moved to Bogalusa. Kudos to the whole team for making that happen. I have seen all of the combined efforts of this team attract more industry and businesses to come to Bogalusa. I have seen an unprecedented amount of positive energies from various groups of people creating new opportunities/events for families to enjoy the assets we had already but needed encouragement and vision to uncover the power of the people. The people of Bogalusa are our greatest assets and I believe it takes strong leadership with vision to create positive movement. Kudos to our current mayor for that movement. I believe we will continue to move forward despite who is elected because the will of the people that have courage to continue good work will keep on keeping on no matter. Reflect on your world and see the progress. The more you see it, the more you will get involved to make more positive movements. Its really all up to us. The citizens of Bogalusa. No one person can do it but strong leadership skills do matter. Make your choice based on results and not whats wrong with the world. We all know what needs to be improved. We only need MONEY and a PLAN to bring home the bacon. Good luck to all candidates. You have a city full of citizens demanding continuous improvements and willing to help get us there. No more mediocrity and status quo.
