A 24-year-old Petit Valley man facing a murder charge from April last, is facing a second murder charge from a separate incident. Kijana Hernandez of Sparrow Drive, Simeon Road, yesterday reappeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar at the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court. Hernandez and a second accused man are charged with murdering Sheldon Barrow at Humming Bird Circular, Sparrow Drive, on April 3 last. According to police reports Barrow was playing cards with friends when he was chased, and shot to death by assailants. Yesterday Ayers-Caesar adjourned the case to January 27. In the second case police report that Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, had advised that Hernandez be charged in the May 28 last, murder of 29-year-old Kevin Joseph from Patna Village, Diego Martin. Hernandez was scheduled to appear in court yesterday on this charge. According to police reports Joseph was liming with friends near the Patna Village Recreation Ground when they were approached by a group of five men dressed in all black. The group was fired upon and Joseph was killed. Hernandez is also facing charges of driving without a licence and driving without insurance regarding an incident on December 18 last, on the Eastern Main Road, Arima. Ayers-Caesar previously transferred the case to the Arima Magistrates’ Court for January 6, 2015.
