I believe that the government should have no powers that we the people do not bestow upon it. This is a heavy responsibility on our shoulders, to ensure as citizens that the government does not take liberties, but that our society is safe from harm. It is a heavy responsibility of the government, the Douglas County Commissioners Office, to ensure that it does NOT take powers beyond that which the people have given it, that it does NOT exceed the voice of the people,that it does NOT diminish the rights of the citizens, and that it ALWAYS protects and hears that voice. That is what having an accountable government means to me as Douglas County Commissioner Candidate for Position #3.
