I believe there is a distinct line between drawing inspiration - TopicsExpress

I believe there is a distinct line between drawing inspiration from anothers work and downright complete copying. The act of mimicking a design helps one to learn. Ex: in school, a workshop, AIFD testing (duplicate piece) etc. In order to avoid copying I believe it starts with finding out where the inspiration is drawn from. If it is not the end result it will not be a copy. Seek out inspiration whether it be from form, color, style, texture etc. Then try to build from that using your own style. Finally leave the final piece of art behind and stand confident in your work in hopes of inspiring others to build from your work.
