I believe we choose our parents; I often thank my children for choosing me as their Father. I also believe that motivation that comes from within (a desire to satisfy ones self) is 100% more likely to bring inner peace than motivation that comes from the desire for approval from others (e.g. Me or Liz). This is why I allow my children to create their own habits; sleep, homework, etc... Liz and I assist at times (when intervention is necessary), my theory is simple. If a child never learns from their own mistakes, how are they to know the proper response to making a mistake? Thus, in my opinion, a child who learns to create their own habits, and their main motivation is to satisfy their own feelings about themselves is 100% more likely to be satisfied!
