I bought the deluxe edition remaster of As the Palaces Burn a while back and forgot that it came with a DVD of the making of the album. They actually go song by song. I was a tad off base with what I thought the song was about. This song makes way more sense now. I thought considering the first words of the song Our Father thy will be done meant that it was He who they were writing I reject you, I deny you, I defy you to continue, smite the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered. Eeps, I was wrong. That last part is actually from the Bible(its shown in the video).... 7 “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. 8 In the whole land,” declares the LORD, “two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it. 9 This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’” Zechariah 13:7-9 When I first heard the song I cringed because I thought it was saying that God is at fault/the cause for the not so good things some have done in His name and I was like, oh come on man, you obviously read the Bible. You know that the devil himself masquerades as an angel of light. All these molestations and murders, that crap aint of God. Now I see that that was his point.
