I came to knowledge this afternoon that the Post OfficeHotel is closing its doors.... normally, I would be going YEAH !!!.... however, I got to know Don (the publican) through his VERY giving heart with the fundraising for Wendy Hedge, who was/is suffering with bowel cancer. You know, I wont state how much he donated towards it, but it was a great amount. Now he has to close his doors because its been alleged that he was given a massive amount of fines because there were allegedly drunken clients roaming the streets from his business. How this can be proven is beyond me considering parties which occur around the place !!! Anyhow, these fines have come to a VERY substantial amount of THOUSANDS of dollars which has forced Don to close his doors. This means ANOTHER business, who employed a few DJs, bar staff and security staff and they are now out of employment !! I am OVER hearing about these businesses closing their doors !!! What is it going to take to stop these from happening!!??? One of the options which was suggested to me this afternoon, was perhaps if all the patrons of the PO throw say $20-$50 into a hat to help poor Don pay these ridiculous fines.... what does everyone think?? Then MAYBE he may be able to consider reopening his doors - and some people get to keep their jobs.
