I can deal with individuals on a one on one basis but I cannot function within a group.Individuals relate to each other (or not) by means of empathy whereas in a group relations between are by means of a bargaining principal as if in a binary code. In a group, character is reduced to caricature as certain predominant emotions, feelings and philosophy are intended to prevail in order to enhance the sensation of security. Individuals rely on empathy as a means of communication because the emotional spectrum is what needs to be defined at each moment in order for a sense of security to prevail. Essentially what is evidenced is either an attempt to define a of sense of purpose and identity which may be found in solitude or the willingness to forego that search by substituting it for a temporary reprieve provided by the mask of fellowship.
