I can finally do a top ten comics! 1. Irredeemable by Mark Waid - Amazing. Incredible. Superhero mayhem and emotional devastation. But Ive talked about it enough so moving on. 2. The Amazing Spider-Man by J. Michael Strazynski(JMS for short)! - Reinvents the character in a true yet innovative way, I dont wanna spoil anything but check it out. 3. Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Miles Morales (Ultimate Spider-Man II) by Brian Michael Bendis - Hes back. Hes black! and hes just a really cool character an watching him learn how to take on the mantle of Spider-Man is just great. 4. Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis - Just read it. Reading this mans rants and flipping through the pages of a awful future that looks all to possible is just too much fun. 5. The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb - The greatest of Batman stories from what Ive read. Its stylistic, its dark, its touching, its just very good. 6. JMSs entire run on Thor - short as it was, it was brilliant. Making Thor one of my favorite characters in Marvel, and I didnt even really like him before that too much. 7. Iron Fist by Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker - A super hero comic/manga. Its great. Its set up like a tournament shonen and its bad assery with mystery and a sense that Iron Fist might be more than just another street level hero soon. 8. The Ultimates 1 & 2 by Mark Millar - THIS FRIGGIN GUY! Mark Millar! Hes... hes not the man(or the amazing writer) he used to be. But when these two books were written... he was THE man. An introduction to Marvels Ultimate Universe(an alternate reality) where everything is more realistic and purposeful. Its just so well written if you havent read it I highly suggest you do it. 9. A TIE! Between Superman: Earth One, the origin story of The Man of Steel but done in a realistic manner, not unlike Marvels Ultimate Universe! and Green Arrow: Year One, which is Green Arrows origin story. Both are near perfect and just I couldnt decide between the two. 10. Old Man Logan my Mark Millar - Millars insatiable appetite for gore and shock finds a nice snuggled home for itself in the pages of this book. A gritty, rough future where all of Earths Villains haves prevailed and all the heroes are either dead or lost... Wolverine remains. Hes a family man retired from fighting or ever using his claws again forced to go on a journey for those he loves... its a wild ride and its very good.
