I can never forget that day in January 1986, I had just joined Facebook when an update came in from Musevenis Page: I am the new President of Uganda. It was all on Twitter. The hashtags were trending. People were sharing photos of the child-soldiers on Whatsapp. How time rushes by so fast? Indeed this wasnt a mere change of guard, this was a fundamental change.... 1. Who knew that Uganda would have an eclipse? 2. Who knew that we would see Desire Luzindas Ekitone? 3. Who knew that we would be using Mobile Money? 4. Who knew that we could move from Kampala to Kiruhura without seeing any dust or getting a feel of a pothole? 5. Who knew that we could share a COKE with our names? 6. Who knew that we Kiprotich would bring a Gold medal? 7. Who knew that Rwamiti could be on NTV? This has been a fundamental change. Let the naysayers go to hell. We brought Facebook, we brought Twitter, we brought the Eclipse. Now we are going to bring the Pope.... NRM is not like those groups that came and went, we have something to show for our 29 years.
