Osun Governorship Election: Tribunal Says Aregbesola Should Be Served Petition. The election petition tribunal sitting in Osogbo has granted the application filed by the Peoples Democratic Party to serve to the winner of the August 9 governorship election, Rauf Aregbesola a copy of their petition. Chairman of the tribunal Justice Suleiman Ambrusa ordered that a copy of the petition should be pasted on the gate to the government house in Osogbo the state capital. Counsel to PDP Afolabi Fashaanu in an interview expressed confidence in the leadership of the tribunal led by Justice Suleiman Ambrusa. Afolabi Fashaanu, Counsel to PDP said, “We had an application for substituted service. We tried to serve the governor but he left instructions that no one should collect any process from the tribunal. So we had no choice than to obtain an allocation for the purpose of getting him served by a substituted means which we did and which the court graciously granted. So the petition is now going to be pasted at the entrance of the government house.” Counsel to the APC Kunle Adegoke had earlier prayed the tribunal to set aside its previous order granted the PDP to inspect the electoral materials with the INEC. Kunle Adegoke, counsel to the APC said, “We had a motion, which in any case was basically seeking fundamentally that the tribunal should set aside its order that it granted the PDP and its candidate to inspect electoral materials some few days ago because the order we are saying was granted without jurisdiction. The order was granted on a motion that was defective because the necessary condition precedent, which was required, was not met by that particular motion. The tribunal was oblivious of it and granted it.” The APC counsel said they have written a petition to the National Judicial Council, NJC querying the composition of the panel. The past chairman of the petition tribunal led by Justice I.M. Bako was removed recently following the petition written again him by the Accord Party in the state.
