I can not tell a joke. I can not make up a joke. What I can do - TopicsExpress

I can not tell a joke. I can not make up a joke. What I can do is ricochet off of what I view to be absurd, preposterous or just plain silly. The result is a sarcastic comment, on my part,. When feeling particularly witty I claim it to be satirical because sarcasm sounds low-brow and satirical sounds ... not low-brow. I love to play with words and they love to play with me. Ill be the first to admit, grudgingly, that when we play a ping-pong game of wit, words play a far superior game than I. A word gets pinged my way and I pong it back. On rare occasions the game will last long enough for me to form a coherent sentence or two. I honestly dont know if this game is normal or abnormal, smart or stupid. It doesnt make any difference to me as this is simply the relationship I have with words. I was under the impression that words were only used to communicate with others ... only to realize that words are how I communicate with myself. What I most enjoy is figurative or nonliteral wordplay, I love the incongruity between what is expected and what actually occurs. Surely that is the definition of humor ... what you expect to happen contradicted by what actually happens. Just talking out silent ...
