I can see what they see, sometimes. Clean people with their eyes - TopicsExpress

I can see what they see, sometimes. Clean people with their eyes closed. Do they close their eyes because they have to trick themselves into singing those songs? Because my eyes are open and it’s not pretty out here… Are believers just that unaware of all the sorrow in the world that they can proclaim God’s “goodness”? Are these church people mistaking disaster and calamity for some form of God’s sovereignty, or what? It’s like they’re choosing to turn a blind eye because nothing seems to deter them from their glazed over worship zone. God’s goodness? What about the trainwreck right outside our church walls (or the thousands inside)? Are we that ignorant? Or could it be.. could it be that they, too, have felt the sting of existence? Could it be that these seemingly untouched smiling faces do see the holocaust destroying their generation, they do see the lack of fathers, the wreckage of hurricanes, the carnage of gang violence, the tragedy of war, the epidemic of unemployment, the lost, the forgotten, the hurting. And they, too, hurt. Could it be? Could it be that those who have met their Maker are instead impossibly courageous? Brave enough to choose joy in the midst of turmoil, daring enough to embrace hope as a lifestyle, and bold enough to share life where there is none. I have to remind myself when I see pretty people on a stage holding a bible in one hand and a microphone in the other that they know pain. They know depression and loss. But man is not made to carry the weight of his world. He is called to see the brokenness and lay it in the hands of the only Antidote there is. He is called not to ignore the darkness, but to live in opposition to it. He is called to surrender; surrender dreams, desires, victories and mountaintops…surrender heartache, confusion, bitterness, misery and discomfort. Those who choose to see God are those who choose to live impossibly courageous lives of looking straight in the face of evil and boldly declare the Goodness inside of them. John 16:33... These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
