I cannot stop smiling as I read in a Marathi daily about protest - TopicsExpress

I cannot stop smiling as I read in a Marathi daily about protest happening in many towns over the killing of Dr Narendra Dabholkar. I never knew there was a branch of ANSI in my home town, I never knew some of the faces walking in the protest every worked for Andhashradha Nirmulan. Branches of ANSI have suddenly popped up and I am not surprised. We have such a inbuilt need to take advantage of any situation. A brave heart becomes a Martyr, giving his life for what he believed in, for what he did for the society and when he is martyred what is our initial response. Let’s take placards and do a morcha. Get some pics clicked and feel good about ourselves and yes the media attention is not to be mentioned. If we really feel sorry, if we really want to keep the torch of knowledge lit by Dr Dabholkar burning do what he believed in, may be not full time. Start with teaching your kids not to take 3 steps back when a cat crosses your way, discuss with whoever you think is in the trap of superstition and convince them otherwise. Still I won’t be surprised if there is some more protest march conducted just for the sake of it, and I am sure it would mostly be attended by people who most probably had never even read about Dr Dabholkar before his murder.
