ACHILEES HEEL FOR PROPONENTS OF PERPETUATION OF ‘’PROPHETIC GIFT’’ INTO THIS DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE. We ask a very sincere, honest and valid question that demands candid response. We have severally posed this same question in the past but proponents of perpetuation of prophetic ministry into this dispensation of the grace of God have conveniently avoided attempting a response or have offered diversionary and irrelevant answers. We, for the umpteenth time, pose the same question in the spirit of 1Peter 3:15. ‘’But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and always be ready to give a defence (or an answer) to every one that who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.’’ ‘’This would I learn from the Pentecostals and Charismatics who participate here; if the scripture is given for doctrine, correction, reproof and instruction in righteousness so the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, what purpose would visions and dreams serve? (1Timothy 3:16-17).Please dont go to sleep first for a dream for an answer.’’ It is undeniable fact that Apostle Paul clearly stated the purpose for which the prophetic gift was given to the body of Christ. ‘’For the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ .........That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried with every wind of doctrine........’’ (Ephesians 4:12,14).He later attributed the same purpose and role of equipping the saints to the inspired scripture. Would not the prophetic ministry alongside inspired scripture undermine or render the latter of non effect?
