I cant speak for anyone but myself, but my experience of being a new author is that in those first months, every new review (the good ones, that is!) were like a great burst of oxygen! And I admit to checking obsessively several times a day those first months to see if anyone had reviewed the book (Gotta admit these things!) Fortunately I have not had any really scathing reviews so far - I know it will have to come - but a few where I have been referred to as whiny and immature. (Is it whiny and immature to whimper, dont call me whiny and immature!!?) Now almost two years later I no longer check for reviews obsessively, but when I remember to ,and find new (good!) ones, I still get that fresh burst of energy. So thank you to anyone out there who has helped me along in this journey by expressing in writing your reaction to the book. Whether we know each other or not. Your appreciation of Trailing truly means a lot! This little post comes to you on a fresh burst of energy, as I just found this review on the Amazon France site: This book captures a lifetime in 200-odd pages. I read it within a day. Its beautifully written, honest and gutsy. Bravo to the author!
