I cant stop thinking about Amber Cunningham McCarthys darling - TopicsExpress

I cant stop thinking about Amber Cunningham McCarthys darling little girl. All the more reason to cherish our Christmas memories. We gathered on Christmas day so Maddie Ripperger could see everyone. She was in a play at the Playhouse and couldnt come Saturday. We had ribs for supper and treats that were laid out on the top of the chest freezer. Maddie got some snowballs, our familys favorite. Micaela Huss brought her boyfriend from AZ, the first grandchild to do this. Kinda scary but he seems nice enough and could joke around with us. You may have seen Carrie OConnors photo of Memphis Ripperger and Cael Ripperger wrestling in front of the tree. Jean Oviatt Kinyon posed her family in front of a candle lit dinner. Our theme this year was Little House on Prairie dog avenue. I guess Pa and Mr. Edwards could have had a little tussle for entertainment! We had a ditch tree decorated with cranberry and popcorn strings, candy canes, cardinals, candles in holders, and pinecones and a corn husk angel on top. Im swearing off real trees forever now. The ornaments dont stay on near as good as the faux trees. Saturday was the real family Christmas. People started gathering at noon and soon cribbage tournaments ensued. We open gifts beginning with the youngest all gathered in the living room. Lots of laughter at some of the gifts. I saved some room by putting Nathans families in the bedroom wince he couldnt come. New baby boy due next week. Next year well have him and Dennetta Groomes twin boys to play in the papers. Pulled BBQ pork with tortilla chips Nick said each little bite was like a taco. Specialty was cold beef tongue. I put out the snowballs Id saved back and lots of other treats. For supper we had turkey like Pa shot (ours came from WalMart). We had butternut squash and onions in cream, cheesy onions, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole rolls and pies. Apple, berry and vinegar like ma made and a chocolate crème Dennis whipped up. Sunday Dannel Ripperger had us over for bisquits and sausage gravy breakfast after church. That night Ma and Pa were very tired!
