I come late to MIA.i only know a little of her music and what I have read,so my few comments may be naïve. I post the link to this song simply because I find it amusing and joyous.behind this is her art in the broadest sense and her politics.she clearly tries to connect the two.she also clearly champions a number of causes with her activism, her art and her money.i also observe the numerous attempts to put her down and trivialise her.one or two of them are women but surprise, surprise its mostly men-and men in power with something to lose who patronise and denounce her,not least for confusion and naivity.somehow I doubt it I cant help feeling that were she Bob Geldof she would be treated like a secular saint but as a woman with frankly a much more difficult and hard edge to her politics efforts to marginalise her voice seem blatant.what are they afraid of?the reality is that neither she nor most artists have the power that the ruling class, individually or collectively do. whilst I would disagree with her approach to Julian Assange,I think in her case those views are understandable(I stress that word understandable)given her own political history. I cannot doubt her commitment to her own people and her efforts to give voice to the voiceless. long may she continue to make some noise solidarity with what remains of the struggle of the Tamil people. https://youtube/watch?v=8g-S-80teFA
