I couldnt think of a better way to bring in the New Year then with Pastor Brown and the GCBC. Im sharing my notes from tonights service. Let this inspire you for your new year; HAPPY NEW YEAR! Tic Toc As we prepare to enter a new year we need to be conscience that every second, every minute, we ought to make it count. We can sit around and think of the things that didnt go our way, or we can decide to make the most of this new year regardless of last year. There is nothing we can do to change last year. The good news is we can learn, reflect, and make some changes. You can start all over tonight regardless of how 2014 went for you. What are you going to do with the new year? For some it was the best year and for others it was a rough year with many ups and downs. Many have experienced failure, heartbreak, or a set back in 2014. Whatever it was you lost some things and youre glad 2014 is almost over, or maybe it was a good year for you. If youre going to make the best of this year I have two suggestions for you: 1. Your relationship with God needs to be your number one priority! You have to have a close relationship with God. For some of us we are going to have to leave some things, some people, behind. There are some things youll have to strip and get rid of. God deserves your best. Not just your leftovers. There are certain things that are going to happen that we have no control over. We may not have control over them but we have control over how we respond to them. Focus on your relationship with God. I cant control some circumstances but I can control how I respond to them. When you have a close relationship with God and He is your number one you can stop saying what you cant do and start saying what you can do. If there is no change on the inside youre going to be the same ole you. Mike Tyson said in an article, my whole life has been a waste; Im embarrassed and Ive wasted my whole life as a child of God and walking with God that doesnt have to be your story. There is nothing you cant handle with God! Many people are trying to drink away last year tonight along with the fear of the new year; they need God! People have faith in the wrong things. With the help and grace of God you can handle the past and face the future. God will give you strength for anything on the inside that works its way to the outside. If you feel your life has been a waste, problem after problem, obstacle after obstacle...lean on God! 2. If youre going to make the best of your time DONT WAIT UNTIL IT GETS BETTER! Once you start it, keep on doing it. Do it now! If we wait for the right circumstances we will miss out on life. Youre always going to have something to deal with in life. START RIGHT NOW! If you wait for the perfect conditions you will never get started. Things may never settle down until you get right with God. Get involved, NOW! Youve got to learn to praise and read your Bible. There are a whole lot of people who have missed out on life because theyve been waiting. We have to learn to enjoy life regardless of our circumstances. Learn to enjoy life wherever you are and start right now. Seize every opportunity and make the best of your time. There is no pause button, or rewind button..once time is gone its gone! Make the best of your time, life is short. Time is a limited thing we have which is constantly moving and slipping away. Grab hold of it and make the best of your time. You wont always have time. Stop getting caught up in foolishness, like what people think of you. Youve got to determine in yourself tonight whatever comes my way, Im a conqueror with the help of God no matter what storm or obstacle. Ive learned how to face a new year and its with God. The only solution for my worry is God. Go into the new year leaning on God.
