I cried watching this. For the old man, the mans wife, and the officer too. Thank God, that man will live. I think it would help if officers were trained to dis-arm instead of shoot at target that way.?. You can see it happened fast and at a distance that yes, I guess I do understand how he mistook it for a weapon. (also at a distance that maybe the old man couldnt hear nor the officer hear him with the traffic) But knowing the officers reaction when he realized it, hes a human too. And hell have to live with this. That being said, my brother and I had a cop draw his gun on us once. We were out at midnight hanging garage signs for our mom. My brother was driving and I was the passenger. I ran to cross the road back to the parked car when a cop pulled in fast with his lights on. He yelled to get out of the car, so we both did. I was still holding the hammer i used to nail up the sign. He drew his gun screaming to get back in the car, so we both did. We were confused and terrified. It was intense as he came nearer with gun drawn right at our faces. Had we accidentally made a wrong move or he thought the hammer was a weapon we could have been shot. Neither of us had never been pulled over by a policemen before.
