I cut a full minute off my pace at Ohlone 50k today compared to last year, but the cool weather can probably take most of the credit. I also came in about 10 spots further up the results, grabbing a top 20 spot. This was the first time I didnt take any Aleve in an ultra this year. The Altra Olympus shoes worked out great, though I might move up a half size since my toes started to feel crowded after 25 miles. This time my achilles did not hurt during the race, so I think Im finally getting used to them. Folks interested in these shoes - go a half size up. This seems to be the consensus among people who have tried them. Great job everyone who ran out there today. Its a brutal course with almost 8000 feet of climbing.
