I did it. I finished my first NRS race. Right from the start I faced my fear and got up the front if the bunch. Hitting the first 4% climb I jumped too quick and was spat out the back. However I managed to find a bunch and work until the nasty Checkers Climb. I ended up dropping my bunch up the climb and soloed the rest of the way all the way to the finish! Typical MTB style I just put my head down, kept HR at 90-95%, listened to my coaches words in my head get comfortable with being uncomfortable and pushed! I REFUSED to GIVE UP! About 7min behind first place I had done it! I had finished my first NRS race against professional and World Class female cyclists! 72km of pure pain in the Adelaide Hills in my 3rd ever road race! I didnt come first, I didnt come last... But I did finish! This would not of been possible with my team support from Subaru Nswis NKC Cycling and the delicious nutrition from Etixx - Quick-Step Cycling Team- it definitely got me through the race today!
