I did not get to know Robin Williams on the numerous occasions - TopicsExpress

I did not get to know Robin Williams on the numerous occasions when our paths have crossed...I held the door for him at Starbucks in Malibu...did the same at The Depot in Mill Valley, and at the bike shop in Sausalito. My daughter made espressos and lemonade for him on occasion, and one such day, I watched him go outside and riff spontaneously for a transfixed crowd of about 10 people, while he busted his chops to make a cranky, pissy Marin delinquent laugh( of course he did). The bizarre thing to me is, that I have hundreds of friends here on Facebook and the degrees of separation apparently dont apply where hes concerned --coast to coast, Im seeing magical and touching posts from friends in and out of the business, with similar recollections. He left an unforgettable trail of individual eye contact, graciousness and joy. He has, albeit unknowingly, punctuated a great portion of my life. Ironically, my wife was even working with a client in Tiburon this morning when they were finding him... Ridiculous as it may seem, I find myself wishing that I could have done something to help...after all, hes helped me throughout the last 40 years -- to laugh, to cry, to feel; moreso than any other actor I can bring to mind. I am so, SO grateful that we were allowed to share space with him for a while, in the midst of this frenetic era...he continues to help me, finding my marbles, despite my ongoing tendency to lose them. I dont agree with the path he chose, but God knows, I can understand how one can arrive at that point. Rest in Peace, Mr. Williams. May you and your family find solace.
