I discovered a long list of challenges to respond, so I decided to group them all in one post, and here we go! A/ I was challenged by Amr El-Bukhari to make a list of 10 movies that have influenced me in a way or another. 1- 18 Days (10 short films) 2- Farhenheit 9/11 (Michael Moore) 3- The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (Luc Besson) 4- The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola) 5- Story of a secret (Marianna Otero) 6- E7na betoo3 el autobees (Hussein Kamal) 7- El Kitkat (Daoud Abdel Sayed) 8- The sixth day (Youssef Chahine) 9- Bande à part (Jean-Luc Godard) 10- 7 pounds I know this isnt the rule, but Id like to list 4 inspiring films Robbin Williams starred in: Dead poets society (Peter Weir) Good Morning, Vietnam (Barry Levinson) Worlds Greatest Dad (Bobcat Goldthwait) Awakenings (Penny Marshall) B/ Basma Mohamed Attalla and Osama Farouk challenged me to list the books that somehow inspired me as well: 1- The girl in the picture (Denise Chong) 2- Egypt of Tahirir (Claude Guibal, Tangui Salaün) 3- Coeur de Lardon (Susanna Tamaro) 4- Froth on the Daydream (Boris Vian) 5- Taxi (Khaled Al Khamissi) 6- Mohamed Naguibs memoires 7- What the Day Owes the Night (Yasmina Khadra) 8- The Stranger (Albert Camus) 9- One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) 10- The words (Jean-Paul Sartre) 11- A 1/4 gram (Essam Youssef) C/ Last but not least, Sarah Shlb nominated me to share my favourite verses of the Quran. I love the idea!! So, here are some of my favourites :) 1- When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me: that they may walk in the right way. (2.186) 2- “O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not (personal) inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort (your testimony) or refuse (to give it), then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.” (4.135) 3- “O you who have believed, avoid much (negative) assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is accepting of repentance and Merciful.” (49.12) 4- “Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury.” (2.263) 5- “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another (not that you may hate each other). Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.
