I dived back 500 years in real time (and forty-four years in TV time) last night and started re-watching the BBCs fabulous 6 part mini series The Six Wives of Henry VIII which was filmed in 1969/1970 and starred my fellow Australian Keith Michell. I last saw it when it was first televised in Australia in the early 1970s and while the sets are a tad clunky and cheap looking with the same corridor being used too much; the acting, writing and costumes are incredibly good. Ive always been fascinated with the War of The Roses, the death of Richard III by the sword of Henry VII, the rise of the Tudors and demise of the Catholic Church in England. If you having 9 hours to spare, all six episodes (thankfully he ONLY had 6 wives!) are currently available to be streamed on Netflix (as is the BBCs subsequent production of Elizabeth I starring Glenda Jackson, which hopefully Alex will want to watch next).
