I do have to admit this was a tough one to watch. Not in a disturbing sense although it was but it was a very slow paced movie where I see a lot of people shutting off. Vincent Cassel (BLACK SWAN) however gives one of the most powerful performances of his career. In French with English subtitles this just shows how gutsy the French can be with their movie making as if it was made in the states there would be controversy from religious groups everywhere as the realistic aspect is only true to form for that day in age. To a fan of foreign films I highly suggest this work of art as it is powerful stuff that will make you think. Fair warning though flick fans not one to put on at night as it will bring the sandman coming like a 10 year old hearing the music from the ice cream truck. Good double feature with THE NAME OF THE ROSE starring SEAN CONNERY (THE PRESIDIO) and Christian Slater (PUMP UP THE VOLUME)
