I do not normally write statuses but I feel the need to vent. I am definitely an advocate for animal rights and extensive revisions in to animal welfare, but I genuinely do not understand the post I just saw regarding getting dog leather banned! Im sorry, PETA, but the British population (excepting vegans) are thoroughly blasé about cow leather. How are the two any different? If the issue were solely about the ethical treatment of the dogs then ok, I agree there is a lot that needs improving as the way the animals are treated is sickening. However, I didnt get the impression that this was the issue here, and more the species of animal. Especially as cattle are hardly treated ethically either in most circumstances. There should be no real difference in the view of dog and cow leather if a person will buy the latter readily! And please do not give me crap about dogs being more aware...as an extensive pig lover I know that pigs are generally considered more intelligent than dogs and, in some studies, monkeys. But eating them is fine. I cannot stand animal rights campaigning aimed solely at the cute, fluffy animals. You cannot pick and choose your moral stance... Rant over!
