I do this every year around this time because people always forget some things that are important. When it comes to itemizing your deductions on your tax return there are some deductions that typically mean more than others. Mortgage interest, charitable deductions, property tax, and personal property tax (car tags) sit at the top of the list. Most of the other deduction have some kind of limiting factor as a % of adjusted gross income. Here is a much better list tmicpa/checklist
