I dont condone terrorism of any kind but as a child who grew up in a dictatorial rule and as an idealistic youth who bucked the same dictatorship, I understand why there is terrorism. Tyrannical and dictatorial governments beget terrorism; such oppressive governments foster the emergence of extremism and terrorism. Terrorism is a threat to our freedoms and human rights but so does tyranny. As long as the western world indulge oppressive governments who let us believe that their governments need to be despotic to defend democracy and their fight against terrorism, radicalism, extremism and terrorism will thrive. Not only should governments in the free world including Canada counter terrorism through armed intervention but we should also combat it through understanding its underlying roots and counteracting its ideologies. While we should declare a global war against terrorism, we should also stop condoning these tyrannical governments because it is their system that make people dissatisfied and we all know that systemic dissatisfaction breeds toxic radicalism. But hey this is just my opinion, Im just one voice...
