"I dont get why people that are South African support All Blacks" - TopicsExpress

"I dont get why people that are South African support All Blacks" says a white south african. Well there are many things that they wont get before they will get to grips as to why blacks support all blacks over afrikaner boks. Whites dont get it why there is Affirmative Action, BEE, in 1994 they didnt get why blacks must vote, they didnt get why in 1976 blacks didnt support afrikaans as a permanent medium of education. Whites dont get it why the cities are overcrowded and why there is so much crime? So basically whites dont get anything that has to do with blacks, nothing at all, even after 19years of democracy and our national intentions to transform and integrate whites still dont get it, and if people dont get it by themsemseves are than not forced to enforce that which they dont get by law? Affirmative Action, EE and Qouattas in sport. Whites have an argument that why dont we apply qouttas in soccer whilst we do in rugby? Well what whites need to know is that soccer is a sport that whites deliberately excluded themselves from. There were no laws and forces than excluded them from participating in the sport on a mass basis, white excluded soccer in their schools, colleges and universities, thus where would we now be expected to find a whole mass of talented white soccer players when they, whites, made sure that their white boys will stay away from it? However one must also remeber that in soccer we always included talented white players, even though they were a minor minority, players like Neil Tovey and Eric Tinkler, your Mark Fishes and to top it off, in soccer we even had white coaches, and the soccer administration hands didnt have to be forced, unlike it was with Peter De Villiers. Whites ought to get their priorities straight, national sports teams have tap that flows with money to ensure it coffers are full, thats national government and business. Thus our national teams dont depend on the prize monies they win to meet bottom line. Infact it was business, through ABSA, where the pace of transformation in rugby was qeustioned. ABSA has a right to intervene as the money they put in SA Rugby should ensure developement, and developement is transformation, and it would be a waist of resources for ABSA to continue injecting monies when their developmental, transformative, program does not yield results at the top- provincial and national Rugby. The bosses at Absa noted on one weekend how out of four teams that competed on one weeken, only 3players of color was fielded, that means 3/60, and this was of result of Minister of Sport abolishing of qoutass. What this, 3/60, meant was that if you leave things to white resolve and understanding your going to be dissapointed as they can only see themselves as being more talented and deserved of a starting line up. So it was a big mistake to remove qoutas, as we are learning once more. Back to the bottom line. As a country that awakes from apartheid, racial segregation, should we then not prioritise a more transformed team than one that is all white? And i mean its not like the black/colored players we field wont be deserving, they are the best of the colored players. Just as you have blacks/colored who are at UCT medical school, those blacks are the best of all blacks, thus you have competent blacks put through into UCT medical school, and just as it does not matter if there are whites that are better than those blacks in medical school, there is just no space for them as we cant be having an all white medical school. And whatever white support we loose through transformation, we will gain through blacks and whites. Its a lie that the only competent black players of color are wing players. Colored players play well in all positions, thus its bad stigmatisation that the only place for players of color is down the wings. I also at one point, more than a decade ago, didnt understand why colored people supported the All Blacks until i asked them as to why? The answer you get was that the whites are racist and they dont select players of color in many provincial and national teams. And when i put though in this i could do nothing but agree as i have witnessed how white priveledge schools would loose time and time again when they played against colored disadvantaged schools. And this for me closed the case and ive been an All Black supporter since than. We can pretty much resolve the same for cricket. The latest argument that comes from white corners is that why would one want to transform a team thats ranked No 2 in the world thats clearly doing far better than Bafana Bafana? Well my answer to that is that Bafana Bafana would also be ranked No 2 in the world if they only competed with only about 9 or so countries in the world. And im sure even with a weak transformed team the Boks honestly not be positioned any lower than No 3 in the world, judging from the competition Rugby has in the world, as compared to soccer.
