What an elephant or any exotic circus animal needs is to be released to a sanctuary to live the rest of their lives free of being chained, beaten or whipped and trucked or transported by rail cars for hours/days on end. The circus is an example of a wonderful bond between animals and humans is it? I very much doubt Tyke would agree with that. After years of abuse by her trainer, Tyke stomped on his head, killing him, broke out of the big tent and ran into the streets of Honolulu where she perished in a fusilage of bullets, still wearing her tiarra. Mr. Iverson, how do you train your elephants to do hand stands? How do you train them to run in circles and carry skimpily dressed girls in costume? Ringling Brothers like all circuses, uses bullhooks--that the trainers use to poke and jab at sensitive areas on the elephants body. Ringling Brothers fought tooth and nail to stop the ban on bullhooks in Los Angeles, and luckily failed, but then threatened a boycott of LA because of it. PT Barnum said a sucker was born every minute. The circus has been suckering the paying public for generations. Its time for the wizard to pull the curtain on this operation and admit the facts. It is time for Ringling to join the 21st century, and usher in a new era of progressive, truly humane entertainment. Dont just ban the bullhook, ban the use of exotic animals in the circus.
