I dont have a video of this sermon but its a very powerful one by a gifted young man. Thank you Grant Harris!! I love when someone asks me, Whats more important when witnessing to someone, your actions or the words you speak? The answer is simple, its both. In 1 Peter 3:15-16 it says, But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. There are some key words here to look at that tells us that the right words are important, look where it says, Always be prepared to give an answer, right there, that answer you need to prepare for is going to be the words you need to speak. What words should I use? You dont have to give someone a super duper complex answer about your faith that is super boring. Just quote scripture and maybe relate it to something personal in your life. Personally, I like to lead someone down Roman Road which is looking at Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23 to establish that we are all sinners and that as sinners we are subject to death, after that I pull out John 3:16 to show that God gave us a way to him through his Son Jesus so that anyone can inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Now lets go back and talk about actions. So we know we need to have an answer prepared for, everyone who ask you to give the reason for the hope you have. That hope, that hope you have are your actions. If someone sees that you are different from everyone else, they are gonna ask why. Your actions are how you are seen as different because not everyone is gonna hear you speak, but they can surely see you from afar. Well what do you mean by acting different? I mean acting like a Christian should act. Ephesians 5:15-21 gives a great layout on what to be careful for when living the life of a Christian. Keep in mind though, that no one is perfect (especially me). Everybody has moments of weakness, a Christian never goes through those moments alone. We sill fail sometimes even with God on our side because in that moment we chose not to listen to him. But even when we fail a Christian has a loving God to go back to. to get restored, forgiven, and loved. Unbelievers dont have those options. So today, my brothers and sisters in Christ, I want to challenge you to reveal your hope and prepare your answer. The days are evil and the time is always right to share the word of God. You may mess up as you walk down the unpopular path of a Christian, but remember not only that you are forgiven by God when you ask his forgiveness, but also that, Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me, Matthew 5:11. Who are we to pick and choose who should come, so invite everyone to follow Jesus.
