I dont know if Ill have the energy to make this post later so - TopicsExpress

I dont know if Ill have the energy to make this post later so heres what went down with D2: On Wednesday, last week, he complained of a headache concentrated in the shunt area. Because the weather was getting rainy/cloudy I just monitored it. He gets barometric headaches whenever the weather changes. This specific headache continued through Thursday, but changed to differing areas of his head, seeming to confirm the weather theory. On Friday afternoon, David began refluxing every time he drank any water and went to bed early. When I checked on him he was warm and the thermometer confirmed a minor fever. He was still under the weather on Saturday when DSr. and I left him in capable hands to go to DSr.s class reunion in MD. It was a one night stay at a wonderful B&B and the reunion was fun. When we were returning from MD on Sunday, we received a text from the caregiver letting us know that David had started vomiting and having the runs. Shortly after we got home, he began complaining of acute pain in his upper right abdominal area. His fever was slightly elevated. By the time I got him in the car to go to the hospital, he was having pain coming and going and looked like a woman in labor. He told the triage nurse that on a scale of one to ten, his pain was an eleven. They did their battery of tests and could not diagnose the source of the pain but after each of two morphine shots he was back in acute pain within half an hour. The began giving him muscle relaxers. I asked them to keep him as I was exhausted and felt one of us might get injured in the course of his care that night. Monday, I waited the call to come and get him and slept A LOT. The doctor said he would stay one more night. DSr. visited. They did an ultrasound of his abdomen to confirm that his gallbladder was okay. It was but they found a pocket of fluid below his liver. They began a course of antibiotics and he remained in sufficient pain to receive morphine through Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, they drew some of the fluid off for testing. Since it was in line with his shunt drain, they consulted neurosurgery and thats pretty much where yesterday left off except that you began praying and his symptoms began to go away. He ate three meals within two hours of being taken off NPO orders had a pain after the third meal and refluxed a bit. They began the evenings course of antibiotics and I noticed that David is beginning to get a dark red rash on his face, typical of his reaction to heavy antibiotics. I left after telling neurosurgery the sequence of events for the third time. That would be the third time for neurosurgery... When I got to the car, there was a message on my phone from the primary doctor on the floor he said hed give me an update today. And I will pass that to you this evening or tomorrow morning. Thank you for your support through this.
