I dont know what I was so worried about with running in formation - TopicsExpress

I dont know what I was so worried about with running in formation and singing cadence. I thought the run was going to be very official this morning...but when I met all the people who I was running with, the Military Intelligence Unit at Fort Meade, I just saw that they were a bunch of really cool, really down-to-earth people. I had such a memorable experience running with them in the rain. As we ran through the early morning traffic in Baltimore, we were escorted by four police cars. When we werent pushing up one hill after another, we spent our time together on the road laughing, connecting, and chatting. I was so honored and humbled that they made the effort to come out with me, and I wish I had more time with them. Robot drove the RV behind us very slowly. Robot is a trooper. She hates driving this thing as it means she cant be doing what she does best- shooting people. (with a camera, calm down!) Three Cheers for Robot!!! Singing cadence was fun for the minute that we did it, although I didnt expect to already know the words. Twist n Shout? Awesome. Later I tried to get the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air going, but it fizzled out pretty quick as we were going up a steep hill. Running in formation was harder for me than I thought it would be. Ive always marched to my own drum beat, no matter how hard I try to conform. I realized today thats because I dont have any rhythm. lol. Amanda from Team RWB Washington DC came out and ran with us too, which was awesome. I love running with alpha females and there were several in the group today. Girl Power! EVERYONE kicked ass, however, and we were done with the 26.4 miles by around noon. Awesome. Afterwards we had to stop for gas at a 7-11 and everyone loaded up on crappy albeit satisfying food. The ride back to Baltimore was really fun. We got to show our new friends the stupid labels on the cabinets in our RV and the frog that I peeled off the road in Louisiana and stuck in our tumbleweed chandelier. Thank you so much to Nate and Alexis for organizing this event for us and to Nate especially for working so hard to get the police escorts. Thank you to Baltimores finest for doing such an amazing job escorting us and energizing us. The music was a nice touch up that first set of hills. And thank you to our beloved Spy J for connecting the dots for us and inviting such awesome, fun people to come and hang out with us. Spy J, you are awesome and we love you. Thank you thank you thank you.
