I dont know what to say to these people. Is climate change happening? Heck, lets say probably. Is it caused by humans? Lets go with yes. But theres no solution in Global Action Now(tm)(r)(c) because theres zero precedent for coordinated worldwide response to any challenge. Think we can get that consensus now? Turn on your evening news. But individual countries? Plenty of progress there -- and solid data showing what it takes for a nation to get greener. Short version? The richer a country gets, the greener it gets. Yes, pollution ramps up as industrialization takes hold. But countries generating wealth and creating middle-class citizens largely become greener over time. Other things -- system of laws and governance, for example -- factor in. But money leads the way. Its called the Kuznets curve, and its a real thing. Want a greener world? Maybe the solution is to stop looking at the UN and start looking the transformative power of trade and markets.
