I dont like to spread my life and sentiments on Facebook, some things should remain private and most of the time I find the display of attention seeking quite unattractive. Anyhow... Here is my rant and I encourage sharing. Ive had it with companies contacting me to get free pictures in exchange of hot air. Do you go to your plumber and ask him to fix your toilet for free or maybe in exchange of a few bog rolls? _ I didnt think so_ You want my images for your brand PAY ME! Do people think we have no bills to pay or that photographers have some magic trust fund which allows them to chill and click that button effortlessly Well guess what, this is a business, this is how we pay our bills and have a roof over our head, and for every favours we do and free pointless so call collaboration, these are precious time wasted not making money shooting or editing paid work. Im all for getting together with other creatives and doing what I love but when its about doing freebies for companies who will profit from the images and Im tricked into giving my time then I say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, it is time as creatives to put our foot down. I keep seeing post from other photographers who are talking about giving up, finding hard to keep a roof over their head being ask to work for free relentlessly, this saddens me and if we want to cary on seeing inspiring work from inspiring people then we need to keep our principles and stop giving away our services for bits of nothing.
