I dont normally do this but this comment was left on my blog The Indian Afghan very early this morning, possibly by a reader in the West. Recently, I got an email from a friend on how she turns to my blog for inspiration from time to time. I am surprised, flattered and touched when I am told I make someone smile or inspire someone to think and improve the way they look at life. Like all emails and comments from my friends this one from a total stranger also managed to touch my heart...so I am sharing this with my friends on FB today... Hi Kavita: I recently found your blog while looking up a bizarre topic which was diet related. I have been following your blog since and read it with a great sense of empathy and connection. I also figured that you once lived in the state (in the U.S.) where I currently live, and I won’t reveal it here on an open comment forum , but that got me even more curious about you and your determination to live in a country where it must be a kick-ass experience living and yet everyday must be a challenge. I have not visited your blog since last few days and just today, evening, when I was doing my regular evening meditation (a part of my daily routine) and trying to introspect on why I sometimes feel so lonely despite being in a big city, I thought of you. I thought of how you are doing it – surviving it – and making the most of it and also seem to be loving it. I don’t know many people who have inspired me coz I think I myself have a very strong, confident personality and I am rarely impressionable, however, reading your little anecdotes and just knowing more about you as a person, have inspired me- in fact it has inspired me enough to think of you during my meditation session and to compare our individual strengths. (thinking if that girl can do it, then what’s my problem?) Anyways, About this post above, I only have to say that we all need companionship and love and friendship and social connections. Without them, we all get bouts of loneliness and few people survive happily without all those things in life. You for one, have your son with you, who is your companion, your love, your strength. For sure, some days it must be lonely and some days it must be hard to pull through “running of the house alone” but as your son grows up, it will all be easier. His level of companionship towards you, will grow as well. You are not alone. You have him. :) So, keep smiling and keep writing..... Dew Drops On Maple
