I dont often turn to FB for a public opinion poll, but I havent had many discussions about liquid natural gas and would genuinely value your insights and opinions. Thanks in advance for your input. Heres the core of what Ive been asked to comment on: BSR (see “About BSR” below) is conducting an assessment of stakeholder perspectives with respect to the potential construction and operation of a facility to produce and distribute liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Pacific Northwest Coast Region for domestic use in the transportation sector. The facility would be located in the Tacoma area and include a small-scale LNG processing plant and the infrastructure required to distribute LNG fuel for use in marine vessels, transport trucks and rail. (LNG is natural gas that has been cooled to -260°F (-160°C) and thus converting it to a liquid, reducing its volume by a factor of 600, and allowing efficient transportation and storage). The company for which we are conducting the assessment would like to understand the perspectives and gather the input of key stakeholders on a variety of issues related to industrial development in general and the LNG facility more specifically, including local economic conditions, environmental impacts, community interests, and cultural sensitivities. Our approach will be to conduct individual interviews with a wide variety of stakeholders and then to compile the results into a report; as part of this process, BSR will also create a summary of our findings that will be distributed to those who participated in the interviews. The overall objectives of the study are to: ? Obtain a clear and comprehensive picture of the landscape of stakeholders ? Understand stakeholder perceptions, concerns, and interests ? Identify key community, environmental, health and social issues and potential impacts of the facility
